Hattie's Ice Cream Parlor

Stop by for a treat and conversation in a charming 18th Century house close by the Brunswick, Maine, Village Green.

Hattie's features the best ice cream in Maine, made by Maple's of Portland, using only fresh, organic ingredients. The sauces are all organic, the waffle cones homemade daily, and the toppings - well, you won't find anything quite like them at any other ice cream shop! It costs a bit more, but it's worth it. Why the name Hattie's?

It's to honor Harriet Beecher Stowe, says Hattie's owner, Wanda Webber Snyder.

Hattie lived a block from here in one direction and did much of her writing in her husband's college office, a block in the other direction. She had a vision to write the book Uncle Tom's Cabin — which had such a significant impact on our nation in the 1850s — while worshipping next door at First Parish Church.

There's a second reason for the name Hattie's: the Maine Food Code requires ice cream scoopers to wear hair coverings. Stop in to see the imaginative hats they've come up with!

Hattie's Community

Hattie's enthusiastically participates in the larger Brunswick community. We sponsor a team in the Brunswick Youth Soccer League, which offers a Fall program for boys and girls who reside in brunswick.

Hattie's also supports the Maine State Music Theatre and the Bowdoin International Music Festival in their programs. And Hattie's helps to sponsor the Brunswick Music on the Mall concerts in the summertime, presented by the Brunswick Downtown Association. We are members of the Southern Midcoast Maine Chamber of Commerce.
